Tonkatsu is a style of preparing meat that was inspired by Korean Barbecue, but was adapted to the Japanese cuisine in early 1900’s. Tonkatsu sauce is a type of barbecue sauce has a bit more of a complex taste than typical BBQ sauces. It’ll offer a sweet yet savoury mix that’s sure to bring wonderful results to your meat dishes.

Ingredients

  • cup tomato ketchup , We use Heinz Tomato Ketchup, or tomato sauce which is less spicy
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon mirin
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder

Recipe Instructions

  • In a small bowl, stir together ketchup, Worcestershire, soy sauce, mirin, sugar, mustard, and garlic powder.

Use immediately or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a month.
