Pecan Nuts

Pecans have a smooth shell and the kernel makes up 40-60% of the in-shell. The principle producing countries are the U.S., Mexico, Australia and Israel. Pecans are marketed in in-shell or shelled form and can be eaten raw or roasted.

They’re used in the bakery, confectionery and dairy industry, in chocolate and ice creams. Pecans are also added to cereals, breads, pastries and biscuits, and are great in salads, main dishes, as toppings on desserts and as a snack.

Pecans are high in unsaturated fat – the kind that is good for you. Also, being high in fibre, they make a great snack, control hunger and contribute towards weight loss.

Adding pecans to the diet assists in promoting health and supplies the body with a large range of vitamins and nutrients. Pecans include over 19 vitamins and minerals including zinc, copper, magnesium, phosphorus, thiamin, potassium, manganese, iron, minerals and vitamins E, A and B.
